Tuesday afternoons in Lawson are dedicated to artmaking lessons with our students. This term, we have been focussing on printmaking. Under the guidance of one of the art teachers, students have been pressing their own designs into foam boards using a lead pencil, rolling with ink and then printing onto paper. In some instances, prints have been overlaid with a second layer of ink to add contrast and depth.

Lawson students have been prolific in their creative output during these lessons and have produced some stunning prints. Here are some examples of the printmaking process and the fine work produced by the Lawson students:

I would like to respectfully acknowledge the Wangal people who were one of the first Aboriginal people to encounter British settlers. The Wangal Clan lived in this place we now call Concord, and where Hen and Chicken Bay was an important Wangal Clan meeting place. The Wangal Clan is one of 29 clans of the Eora Nation. I would like to pay my respects to the Elders, both past, such as Bennelong, and present Elders and Aboriginal people of this land where we meet today.
